Syam Kumar

Syam did his integrated MSc in Physics (BSc+ MSc) from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, India in 2016 after which he joined Insitute of Technology Sligo as a PhD student. He works under the supervision of Dr Akinlolu Akande (School of Science, IT Sligo). The position links to the Computational Spintronics group of Prof. Stefano Sanvito and Novel Materials for Energy group of Dr Fadwa El-Mellouhi (Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha – Qatar). His interests focus on modelling novel perovskites and chalcogenides for photovoltaic and catalytic applications. His research includes but is not limited to the modelling of the structural, electronic, mechanical and chemical properties of various chalcogenides.
