Xihua obtained his Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Jinan (1998), and M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from the Graduate School and Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2001) where he worked with his advisor Prof. Kechen Wu on molecular nonlinear optics. He received his Ph.D in Chemistry from New York University(NYU) in 2007. While in NYU, he worked with his instructor Prof. John Z.H. Zhang on developing linear scaling methods in quantum chemistry. He then worked as a quantitative analyst in credit derivatives in New York and London. Xihua joined Prof. Stefano Sanvito's Computational Spintronics Group in June 2009. His current research interests lie in the field of quantum transport at the molecular level.
