Ruairi Hanafin's Bio

Brief Biography

After graduating from Trinity College, Dublin with a degree in Theoretical Physics, I joined Prof. Sanvito’s group in 2004 as a phd student. My work has been mainly concerned with attempting to understand the origin of the mysterious magnetism of dilute magnetic semiconducting oxides. Much of this work has involved extensive modelling of these materials using Monte Carlo methods with parameters extracted from Density Functional Theory.
