Brief Biography

I have been doing my PhD studies in the CS group of Prof. Sanvito for the past 5 years. Just submitted my thesis titled "Atomistic Spin-Dynamics Simulations" in September 2008 and I am presently awaiting my Viva defense. My PhD project, conceived in collaboration with Tchavdar Todorov from QUB (Belfast, UK), has largely involved model (tight-binding based) simulations of the dynamics of a atomic-scale spin domain walls (DW) in non-equilibrium (current-carrying) conditions. This includes matters like the DW migration/pinning in a point contact, the conservativeness of the current-induced torques, the interplay between structural and magnetic degrees of freedom in junctions. More recently I have been working on a time-dependent (Ehrenfest-based) scheme for spin-dynamics. This has been used to investigate in real time the current-induced evolution of a DW and the generation of spin-motive force by DW in a magnetic field. I am currently working on the development of a computational scheme for ab initio spin-dynamics simulations.
